The Pete Jackson Artist and PEMA - A Growing Community
PEMA Family Enterprises, LLC and Pete Jackson Artist are closely connected yet serve different purposes.
Pete Jackson Artist represents Pete’s broader body of original visionary surrealist art, including paintings, drawings, fine art prints, and artist-designed products based on his work.
PEMA expands the philosophy behind that work into a broader creative and entrepreneurial context.
PEMA began with family, but we do not believe the family has to end with us.
While Pete’s paintings may tell complex, multilayered visual stories, PEMA can transform ideas into clearer designs and messages for impactful expression.
As PEMA grows, we hope to build relationships with people who connect with Pete Jackson’s artwork and the ideas behind it, and with PEMA’s belief in creativity, expression, respectful dialogue, family, and community.
Artists. Creators. Designers. Collectors. Educators. Storytellers. Entrepreneurs. Art lovers. Young thinkers. Experienced thinkers.
People who believe that what we choose to create, display, wear, share, and support can communicate who we are.
The PEMA Affiliate Program is one way we are starting to build that larger community.
PEMA partner affiliates will have the opportunity to introduce Pete Jackson’s art, prints, designs, and select products to new audiences while helping to grow an independent, artist-led, family-centered creative enterprise.
Our first affiliate partners come from within our own family.
As the program grows, we intend to welcome others who genuinely connect with the artwork, understand its philosophy, and are eager to help carry its ideas into new communities.
Family Is Where PEMA Begins… Not Where it Ends…
The word Family in PEMA Family Enterprises is intentional.
PEMA begins with Pete’s diverse family and the generations, cultures, perspectives, talents, and opinions it represents.
Family does not mean uniformity of thought. Family members can see the world differently, have different experiences, and reach different conclusions while listening, creating, collaborating, and respecting one another. That diversity of perspective is an asset to PEMA as a company.
For Pete, however, family has never stopped at the front door.
His philosophy has also been shaped by a strong belief in being a contributing member of the larger community, a member of the village.
After decades of creating art, raising a family, teaching, mentoring, and working with young people, Pete now finds himself in a different role within that village.
The company is intended to become a creative environment where ideas can move across generations and where family and community members can contribute their individual talents while participating in something larger than themselves.
He is becoming one of its elders, and with that role comes additional responsibility:
to help make room for the people coming next.
PEMA is part of the next chapter. It provides a framework through which art, design, entrepreneurship, mentorship, family participation, and community can begin to intersect. The goal is not simply to create more products. It is to create more opportunities for ideas, expression, and collaboration, and, over time, more opportunities for the next generation of artistic thinkers to find their own voices.
Pete’s philosophy has always extended beyond his own studio
PEMA Family Enterprise Partnership Program. Art, Mentorship, and the Next Generation in the making
One example occurred in 2017, when he developed and taught a dual-credit course for high school students at Santa Fe Community College.
The course was designed for artistically talented high school students who were interested in the arts but uncertain about pursuing higher education. One of Pete’s goals was to make the college environment and its teachers feel accessible rather than intimidating.
Students were introduced to professors in the Art, Design, and Media Arts department through short, hands-on workshops covering both two- and three-dimensional disciplines. They explored areas such as fashion, photography, fine woodworking, jewelry making, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, and other creative practices.
The semester culminated in a campus exhibition of student work.
The experience reinforced something Pete had observed over decades of working with young people: when people are given creative freedom, reliable resources, encouragement, and meaningful opportunities to express themselves, confidence and possibility can flourish.
Whether working with teenagers approaching adulthood or with very young children discovering creativity for the first time, Pete recognized the value of giving young people permission to play, experiment, create, make mistakes, ask questions, and communicate.
